Exporting Analytics Data
Download analytics data as CSV files for external analysis and record-keeping
Overview
The Analytics Dashboard includes an export feature that allows you to download your order volume and revenue data as a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file. The exported data respects your selected time range, allowing you to create targeted reports for specific periods. CSV files can be opened in spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Numbers for further analysis.
Tip: Export data regularly to maintain backups of your business performance metrics and create historical records for tax or accounting purposes.
Finding the Export Section
Location
The export section is located at the bottom of the Analytics Dashboard page, below all charts and leaderboards. It appears as a card with a download icon.
- • Section Title: "Export Analytics Data"
- • Description: "Download comprehensive reports for further analysis"
- • Icon: Download icon (arrow pointing down into a tray)
- • Button: "Export CSV" button with file/document icon
How to Export Data
Step-by-Step Export Process
- 1. Navigate to Analytics Dashboard
Go to Dashboard → Analytics from the sidebar navigation
- 2. Select Time Range
Use the time range selector (7D, 1M, 3M, 1Y, ALL) to filter data you want to export
- 3. Scroll to Bottom
Scroll down past all charts and leaderboards to find the "Export Analytics Data" section
- 4. Click Export CSV Button
Click the "Export CSV" button on the right side of the export section
- 5. Wait for Processing
Button text changes to "Exporting..." for about 1 second while data is prepared
- 6. Save File
Your browser's download dialog appears. Choose location and save the file
Note: The export process happens entirely in your browser - no data is sent to external servers. Your analytics data never leaves your device during export.
What Gets Exported
CSV File Contents
The exported CSV file contains order volume and revenue data for the selected time range. The file includes:
- • Column 1 - Period: Date or time period label (matches chart x-axis labels)
- • Column 2 - Orders: Number of completed orders for that period
- • Column 3 - Revenue: Total revenue for that period (in selected currency)
Period,Orders,Revenue
Mon,5,450.00
Tue,3,275.50
Wed,7,680.25
Thu,4,320.00
Fri,6,550.75
Sat,2,180.00
Sun,1,95.50
File Name Format
Downloaded files are automatically named using this pattern:
- • Format: analytics-[TIME_RANGE].csv
- • Examples:
- - analytics-7D.csv (for 7 days)
- - analytics-1M.csv (for 1 month)
- - analytics-3M.csv (for 3 months)
- - analytics-1Y.csv (for 1 year)
- - analytics-ALL.csv (for all time)
Data Granularity by Time Range
The number of rows and period labels in the CSV depend on the selected time range:
7 rows, one per day. Labels: Weekday names (Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.)
30 rows, one per day. Labels: Day numbers (1, 2, 3... 30)
3 rows, one per month. Labels: Month abbreviations (Oct, Nov, Dec)
12 rows, one per month. Labels: Month abbreviations (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.)
12 rows for last 12 months. Labels: Month abbreviations. Note: Metrics include all historical data, but chart shows last 12 months.
Using Exported Data
Opening CSV Files
CSV files are plain text files that can be opened with any spreadsheet application:
- Microsoft Excel: Double-click the file, or File → Open → Select CSV file
- Google Sheets: File → Import → Upload → Select CSV file → Import data
- Apple Numbers: Double-click the file, or File → Open → Select CSV file
- LibreOffice Calc: Double-click or File → Open
Analysis Ideas
- Create custom charts: Use spreadsheet charting tools to create visualizations not available in dashboard
- Calculate trends: Add formulas to compute growth rates, moving averages, or projections
- Combine time periods: Export multiple time ranges and combine data for long-term analysis
- Financial planning: Import into accounting software or financial planning tools
- Compare periods: Export same range from different months to compare year-over-year
- Team sharing: Share CSV files with accountants, partners, or team members
Common Use Cases
Export 1M range at month-end for consistent monthly performance reports. Keep files organized by month for historical comparison.
Export ALL or 1Y range for annual tax filing. Revenue data helps verify income reported on tax returns.
Export 1Y data to analyze seasonal patterns and plan inventory, staffing, or marketing for upcoming year.
Export data to demonstrate business growth and performance to potential investors or when applying for business loans.
Currency in Exports
Exported Currency
Revenue values in the exported CSV use your currently selected currency preference at the time of export:
- • If currency is set to USD, revenue column shows USD amounts (e.g., 450.00)
- • If currency is set to CAD, revenue column shows CAD amounts (e.g., 607.50)
- • If currency is set to EUR, revenue column shows EUR amounts (e.g., 418.50)
Best Practice for Currency
- • Export in a consistent currency for easier comparison across time periods
- • Add currency information to filename manually: analytics-1M-USD.csv
- • Document currency used when sharing files with others
- • If you need data in multiple currencies, export once for each currency setting
Export Limitations
What Is NOT Included in Export
The current export feature has some limitations:
- • No client leaderboard data: Client names, emails, and revenue not exported
- • No material usage data: Material rankings and percentages not included
- • No order status breakdown: Completed/processing/pending/cancelled counts not exported
- • No payment status data: Paid/partially paid/unpaid information not included
- • No individual order details: Export shows aggregated data only, not order-by-order records
- • No timestamps: Actual dates are not included, only period labels
Tip: For detailed order-by-order data, use the Orders page and export from there. The analytics export is designed for high-level trend analysis, not granular order details.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
Problem: Export CSV button is grayed out or not clickable.
Solution: Button is only clickable when you have data to export. Select a different time range that has completed orders.
Problem: Clicked export but nothing downloaded.
Solution: Check browser download settings. Look in your Downloads folder - file may have auto-downloaded. Disable popup blockers.
Problem: CSV file displays as one column or looks garbled.
Solution: Some programs need comma delimiter specified. In Excel, use Data → From Text/CSV → Select comma delimiter.
Problem: Expected more/fewer rows in CSV.
Solution: Row count depends on time range selected. 7D=7 rows, 1M=30 rows, 1Y=12 rows, etc. This is normal.
Best Practices
- Export monthly for records - Create monthly snapshots by exporting 1M range at end of each month
- Organize files by date - Name files with dates: analytics-1M-2025-11-USD.csv
- Use consistent currency - Always export in same currency for easier comparison
- Store backups safely - Keep exported files in cloud storage or external backup
- Document export parameters - Note time range and currency in filename or accompanying notes
- Verify data after export - Open CSV immediately to ensure it contains expected information
- Export before major changes - Create backup before bulk order edits or deletions
