Organizing Models

Use categories, search, and filtering to keep your model library organized

Search Models

Quickly find models in your library using the search bar.

What You Can Search

Model Name

Search by any part of the model name

Example:

Search "dragon" finds "Dragon Figurine", "Mini Dragon", "Dragon Head"

Designer Name

Search by designer or creator name

Example:

Search "JohnDoe" finds all models by designer "JohnDoe3D"

Search Features

  • Case-insensitive: Searches work with any capitalization
  • Partial matches: Find models even with incomplete words
  • Real-time filtering: Results update as you type
  • Combined with categories: Search within selected category

Pro Tip: Use search and category filter together to narrow down results. For example, search "planter" with "Home Decor" category selected.

Organization Best Practices

Consistent Categorization

Assign categories consistently to make filtering effective.

  • Choose the most specific category that fits
  • Use the same category for similar models
  • Create custom categories for unique model types
  • Avoid leaving category blank unless truly uncategorizable

Descriptive Naming

Use clear, searchable names that describe the model well.

Good Examples:

  • Hexagonal Desk Organizer - Large
  • Dragon Miniature 28mm D&D
  • Phone Stand Adjustable - iPhone

Poor Examples:

  • model_final_v3
  • thing123
  • untitled

Designer Attribution

Consistently track designers to search by creator.

  • Fill in designer field for all purchased models
  • Use your name for original designs
  • Include marketplace username for easy reference
  • Search by designer to find all models from the same creator

Library Statistics

The sidebar shows quick stats about your model library.

Library Stats Card

No Matching Results

If your search or filter returns no matches:

Try:

  • Clearing the search box
  • Selecting "All Categories"
  • Using different search terms
  • Checking spelling

Advanced Organization Tips

Naming Conventions

Develop a consistent naming system for easy searching.

Example Convention:

[Type] - [Name] - [Size/Version]

Examples:

Planter - Succulent Pot - Small

Figurine - Dragon - 28mm

Tool - Wrench Holder - v2

Custom Categories

Create custom categories for specialized model collections.

  • Client-specific: "Client - CompanyName" for custom orders
  • Project-based: "Project - Christmas 2025" for seasonal items
  • Purpose: "Prototypes" or "Production Ready"

Regular Maintenance

Keep your library organized with periodic reviews.

  • Review uncategorized models monthly
  • Delete obsolete or superseded models
  • Update categories as your collection grows
  • Add missing information like print time or designer
