Storage Limits

Understand storage quotas, file size limits, and how to manage your space

Storage Overview

Your account includes cloud storage for 3D model files, with limits based on your subscription tier.

Storage Includes

3D model files (.stl, .3mf, .obj, .step, .zip)
Model preview images (JPG, PNG)
All files uploaded to the Model Library

Storage by Tier

Different subscription tiers offer different storage capacities and file size limits.

Starter Tier

Free

Total Storage

10 GB

Max File Size

50 MB

Perfect for hobbyists and small collections. Store approximately 200+ average STL files.

Premium Tier

Basic / Pro

Total Storage

50 GB

Max File Size

100 MB

Great for professionals and growing businesses. Store 1,000+ models with room for larger files and assemblies.

Enterprise Tier

Business

Total Storage

250 GB

Max File Size

500 MB

Designed for high-volume production and large file libraries. Handle complex assemblies, scans, and massive collections.

Storage Usage Widget

The storage widget in the sidebar shows your current usage at a glance.

Per-File Size Limits

Each individual file must be within your tier's maximum file size limit.

How Limits Work

  • Each file is checked individually during upload
  • Files exceeding the limit are rejected before upload starts
  • You can upload multiple files as long as each is under the limit
  • Total storage consumed counts toward your overall storage quota

Example Scenarios

Starter Tier (50 MB limit)

Can upload: 45 MB STL file

Cannot upload: 75 MB high-resolution scan

Premium Tier (100 MB limit)

Can upload: 85 MB textured 3MF file

Cannot upload: 150 MB assembly STEP file

Enterprise Tier (500 MB limit)

Can upload: 450 MB complex assembly with textures

Cannot upload: 600 MB extremely detailed scan

Managing Your Storage

Reduce File Sizes

  • Optimize meshes: Reduce polygon count in CAD software
  • Remove details: Simplify geometry that won't be visible when printed
  • Compress files: Use ZIP archives for multiple files
  • Resize images: Compress model preview images to 800x800px

Delete Unused Models

Regularly review and remove models you no longer need:

  • Old prototype versions after finalizing designs
  • Test uploads and practice files
  • Discontinued or obsolete products
  • Duplicate files uploaded by mistake

Upgrade Your Tier

If you consistently need more storage:

  • Starter → Premium: 5x more storage (50 GB), 2x larger files (100 MB)
  • Premium → Enterprise: 5x more storage (250 GB), 5x larger files (500 MB)
  • Visit Settings → Billing to upgrade your subscription

Storage Tips & Tricks

File Format Selection

STL - Smallest

Binary STL files are typically the smallest format for mesh-only models

3MF - Medium

Compressed format with metadata - good balance of features and size

OBJ/STEP - Larger

Larger files due to additional data (textures, precision CAD data)

Strategic File Management

  • Keep only production-ready files in the cloud
  • Store design iterations locally, upload only final versions
  • Archive rarely-used models to local backup, delete from cloud
  • Avoid uploading source files (Fusion 360, Blender) - upload only printable formats

Storage Troubleshooting

Upload Rejected - File Too Large

Error: File exceeds maximum size for your tier

Solutions:

  • Reduce mesh resolution in your CAD software
  • Simplify geometry or remove unnecessary details
  • Convert to a more compressed format (STL to 3MF)
  • Upgrade to a higher tier for increased file size limits

Storage Full

Error: Cannot upload - storage quota exceeded

Solutions:

  • Delete unused or old models to free up space
  • Remove large files you no longer need
  • Compress images and optimize file sizes
  • Upgrade to Premium or Enterprise for more storage

Storage Widget Shows Wrong Amount

The storage tracking feature will be implemented in a future update to show accurate real-time usage. For now, the widget displays example values (2.4 GB / 10 GB).
